Makeup: a topic that is often an issue for teenage christian girls like myself. Is it even okay with God? As a teenage girl who loves her makeup, I think its time we address the issue. we've all heard the verse 1 Timothy 2:9, " I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propiety, adorning themselves not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. "
We have to ask ourselves then, does God not want us to wear makeup? But, as I heard Jenny put it once, God is talking about the intent. He wants us not to have the intention of not wanting attention, that we shouldn't be wearing makeup for boys to notice us or to make more friends. It's okay if we wear make-up for fun, and not do it to look fake, but to add to our natural beauty, because God made us beautiful. Where we need to draw the line is saying that we aren't beautiful and that makeup makes us beautiful. Then it becomes, what i like to call it, fakeup. I got the inspiration from one of my concealers, thats in the picture. It's called fakeup and its from benefit. I'm not sure why its called fakeup, but it gives me a reminder that makeup isn't for me to us to be beautiful, its to enhance my natural beauty. so here are five tips on how to keep your makeup au naturale.
1. skip the concealer:
the easiest way to rock the natural look is to just go without. Trade your concealer for a weekly de-acnying (is that a word?) scrub, like my personal favorite 'herbalism' from the best all natural beauty store around, Lush.
2. less is more:
instead of layering on the eyeshadow with the 'excuse' that eyeshadow doesn't stay on well, try using an eye primer, like mine from Urban Decay, to guarantee what you put on stays on. It was $20, but totally worth it, because I haven't even used it up and I've had it for a year now.
3. keep it light:
if you do want to wear a good amount of makeup, try to keep your foundation natural. Mine is called Dream Fresh from Maybelline, and I get asked all the time if I'm wearing foundation because it looks so natural.
4. pick one place to shine:
focus either on your eyes, lips, or face. all three is usually too much. so, if you want a colorful lip, tone down the mascara. or keep your lips simple and try some bronzer.
5. be you:
don't be afraid to show the world who you are! try going without makeup for a day! you know what, i dare you to! i guarantee you that you are absolutely gorgeous, and you will get compliments about your natural beauty!
stay blessed,
