Okay ladies!
Schools starting soon and if you're like me, you may have payed a little less attention to your appearance over the summer. Heres some quick tips to get back in tip top shape! 1) Get a hair cut: You might not have spent to much time putting heat in your hair this summer and more time swimming. Most likely your hair has grown reasonably much, plus its always fun to get a new hair cut for school! 2) Mini workouts: I'm not saying lets get toned for school, but your about to start back moving more and most likely in PE classes. Get your body used to a work out so you wont be in the back of the pack in class. 3) Sleep: About a week before school you should start to get back into a normal sleeping routine. This way, your body will adjust to the early rising and you wont be as drab. 4) Nails: For some reason my nails always chip and break more over the summer. I like to file them down and give myself mani/pedis before school starts! 5) Catch up: Now is the perfect time to start getting yourself in a routine! Anyone else have horrible handwriting the first days back from summer? Start reading and writing more and doing activities that require more strenuous brain activities so you're not total slosh on the first day! These are just a few tips but feel free to suggest more below! I n g r e d i e n t s ;

Directions: Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Depending on how many strawberries you used, their size, your blender, and your desired smoothie thickness and consistency, you may need more than 1/4 cup cream (I used about 1/2 cup), or add a splash of water, to reach desired consistency. Serve immediately. Leftover portion may be stored in the freezer for later consumption for up to 2 months. The smoothie does not change consistency and taste is not effected upon thawing. While it is so easy to stay up late on social media or doing homework or studying, these simple tips will help you to not feel tired during the day and function at your best.
1. Keep a regular sleep schedule. Getting in sync with your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle—your circadian rhythm—is one of the most important strategies for achieving good sleep. If you keep a regular sleep schedule, going to bed and getting up at the same time each day, you will feel much more refreshed and energized than if you sleep the same number of hours at different times. This holds true even if you alter your sleep schedule by only an hour or two. Consistency is vitally important.
2. Naturally regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone controlled by light exposure that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Melatonin production is controlled by light exposure. Your brain should secrete more in the evening, when it’s dark, to make you sleepy, and less during the day when it’s light and you want to stay awake and alert. However, many aspects of modern life can disrupt your body’s natural production of melatonin and with it your sleep-wake cycle. Spending long days in school away from natural light, for example, can impact your daytime wakefulness and make your brain sleepy. Then bright lights at night—especially from hours spent in front of the TV or computer screen—can suppress your body’s production of melatonin and make it harder to sleep. However, there are ways for you to naturally regulate your sleep-wake cycle, boost your body’s production of melatonin, and keep your brain on a healthy schedule. Increase light exposure during the day:
3. Create a relaxing bedtime routine. If you make a consistent effort to relax and unwind before bed, you will sleep easier and more deeply. A peaceful bedtime routine sends a powerful signal to your brain that it’s time to wind down and let go of the day’s stresses. Make your bedroom more sleep friendly:
Relaxing bedtime rituals to try:
4. Eat right and get regular exercise. Your daytime eating and exercise habits play a role in how well you sleep. It’s particularly important to watch what you put in your body in the hours leading up to your bedtime.
If you need a bedtime snack, try:
Some people prefer to schedule exercise in the morning or early afternoon as exercising too late in the day can stimulate the body, raising its temperature. Even if you prefer not to exercise vigorously at night, don’t feel glued to the couch, though. Relaxing exercises such as yoga or gentle stretching can help promote sleep. 5. Get anxiety and stress in check. Do you find yourself unable to sleep or waking up night after night? Residual stress, worry, and anger from your day can make it very difficult to sleep well. When you wake up or can’t get to sleep, take note of what seems to be the recurring theme. That will help you figure out what you need to do to get your stress and anger under control during the day. If you can’t stop yourself from worrying, especially about things outside your control, you need to learn how to manage your thoughts. When you are worried or stressed, spend time praying and/or reading your Bible. Spending time with God and allowing Him to give you peace is the best way to ease stress and anxiety. If the stress of managing work, family, or school is keeping you awake, you may need help with stress management. By learning how to manage your time effectively, handle stress in a productive way, and maintain a calm, positive outlook, you’ll be able to sleep better at night. Relaxation techniques for better sleep Relaxation is beneficial for everyone, but especially for those struggling with sleep. Practicing relaxation techniques before bed is a great way to wind down, calm the mind, and prepare for sleep. Some simple relaxation techniques include:
6. Ways to get back to sleep. It’s normal to wake briefly during the night. In fact, a good sleeper won’t even remember it. But if you’re waking up during the night and having trouble falling back asleep, the following tips may help.
7. Know when to see a sleep doctor. If you’ve tried the tips above and are still struggling with sleep problems, you may have a sleep disorder that requires professional treatment. Consider talking to your parents about scheduling a visit with a sleep doctor if, despite your best efforts at self–help, you are still troubled by any of the following symptoms:
Adapted from: http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleep_tips.htm One of my favorite substitutes for dessert or a frappuchino is one of my famous chai lattes, Chai has so many great health benefits, which include: - anti-flammatory effects - antioxidants - digestive support. So here is my easy recipe for Claire's Chai-dorable Lattes ♥ you will need: one packet of chai some coffee creamer ( vanilla tastes best in my opinion ) your favorite mug I just had to brag about this mug I painted myself, its my new favorite for lattes.
instructions: boil your water for about two minutes in a kettle. after you pour the water into the cup with the tea bag, let it steep for about five minutes before adding the creamer. add the desired amount of creamer. serve hot or iced! and enjoy xo Here is a pretty simple workout I found on Pinterest that is a great wake-up. Remember, its not the quantity of reps that matters, its the quality. It's okay to start with a lower number of reps/

Let sit for stronger taste So I will be totally honest and say I don't work out. EVER. I have a gym membership to an amazing gym and have only been in there twice. Once was because they were having free soup. True story. So I decided to start going to the gym, yesterday. Funniest thing ever. I texted Claire, Morgen and Jenny saying I don't know how to gym. I really had no idea how to do anything. I think I even broke one machine. I sat back and watched everyone else for a good ten minutes to figure out gym etiquette and how people work. I chose to go yesterday cause its spring break and I figured there would be the least amount of people in case I embarrassed myself. Any way heres some tips for you: 1) Fuel up before. I had a bowl of oatmeal before along with lots of water. 2) If you despise working out, use machines that "look" fun. I know this is bad but I used the bicycle machine because it had a tv on it and you could plug your iPhone in and it would play music videos from youtube. I worked out for a good 35 minutes doing this. 3) Don't over do it. If you're tired, take a break. Its okay. Don't try to do everything in one day. 4) Stretch before, especially if this is you're first time! 5)Cool down after. Choose a cool down exercise for the last five minutes. 6) Again, Make it fun. I played raquet ball for 30 minutes even though I had never played before. It was actually really fun! 7) Eat an after work out snack! I had a banana. See my gym, isn't it huge and amazing.
So ya those are my tips for you. But its only my first day so remember I may have no clue what I'm talking about. But remember not to over do it! working out should be an activity, don't hold yourself to to loosing weight or burning a certain amount of calories. Don't get carried away! |
