Okay we all know how I l o v e DIY's! These are two of my favorite DIY's I have made to date, they both are quite simple and super cute and festive. I am looking forward to probably making them again this year, but for now, here are some pictures of them from last year. The first is a set of candles that say the new year on them. I made these last year, and put 2014 on them. The instructions are as follows: what you'll need: 4 white candles 4 colors of glitter (or they could be all the same color or two colors or whatever you want) mod podge sponge brush adhesive numbers that spell out 2015 to make it: 1. place the numbers on the middle of each of the candles 2. modge lodge the candle, and cover the whole candle with glitter. 3. let this dry completely. 4. once it drys, peel off the numbers! voila! you have an adorable way to ring in the new year! the second craft, is a memory jar of the year. Throughout the year, I filled this jar with little slips of paper with special memories on them, all the way down to frozen yogurt trips and up to special days and events. At the end of this year, I am going to open my jar and read all the memories. I plan on making another jar for 2015. These are the instructions: what you'll need: 1 mason jar a computer that you can print from flowers or other cute decorations from the internet paper 1. on your computer, type out a simple phrase or two to attach to your mason jar. for mine, i put; "enjoy the little things" and "favorite memories from 2014" I then found some cute flowers from google images and pasted them onto the same document and printed them out. 2. cut out the flowers and the sayings and glue them onto the jar. 3. using a paper cutter or just scissors, cut white paper into small strips to be dropped in. 4. throughout the year, write on the slips and add them to the jar, but no peeking at old strips. on new year's eve next year, open up the jar and relive the memories. ps, its also helpful to add the date of when these things happened. |
we also have created a free printable to help make this DIY even easier on you!
